In type II DM, insulin resistance is one of important factors to explain the mechanism. In addition, the maintenance of blood high glucose induces pancreatic damage and liver overload. The regulation of two factors: its mechanism and the consequential damage is a key factor for the research. As results, we established insulin resistance models: When exposed to palmitate, liver cells showed the phosphorylation of IRS-1 serine and increased ER stress response proteins. We also used BAX resistance models: Yeast BAX system to screen biofoods which regulate ER stress and insulin resistance. To study about material characteristics, we studied about ingredients of Salvia plebeia. We showed the amount of hispidulin and Rutin. As plans, we continue to study about the mechanism of biofoods: insulin resistance and BAX activation. In addition, we plan to show the food-induced in vivo function (insulin resistance).
