The mechanism of IGF-1-induced protective effect on adriamycin-induced apoptosis
Adriamycin is an anthracycline derivative and is one of the most frequently used antineoplastic agnets in the treatment of leukemias and solid tumors. However, severe cardiotoxicity of adriamycin is a major limiting factor for its effective use in the treatment of all malignancies. In this study, we show role of factors acting downstream of PI3K. We identify mitochondria-dependent mechanism responsible for antiapoptotic properties of IGF-1.
